Intel Tech Talk!

Last week, we got the semester's events off to a great start with a visit from none other than Intel!

Intel, in town for the career fair, held a tech talk for interested students on Storage Technology, Catching, and Software Implication.

It was great to see so many new faces at our event as well as some familiar ones!

Near the end of the tech talk, Intel held a raffle with students' resumes, and the winners left with some awesome prizes: a pair of Skullcandy headphones and an Intel SSD!

Once everything had been cleaned up, several members stayed behind to catch up with each other over card games, ending the event on a high note.

Thanks so much to Intel for stopping by! We can't wait to see you the next time you come to UMich!

Also, congrats to all of our new members! We look forward to seeing all of you at our events next year!

First Annual North Campus Tie-Dye(ag)!

CSE Scholars hopes everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend...we sure did!
This past weekend, CSE Scholars decided to offer students a chance to dye something other than just eggs -- shirts!

We held a tie-dyeing event, now dubbed the North Campus Tie-Dye(ag) (since it was held on the North Campus diag), where many students came out and brought their CSE Scholars T-shirts for a chance to personalize them in some very colorful ways.

We were very lucky that it was a beautiful day, and members gathered near the North Campus Bell Tower to decorate their T-shirts.

It was so nice out that some students even took naps!

In the end, everyone who attended left with a unique shirt that symbolized their own personality as well as their appreciation of CSE Scholars.

The event was a success! In fact, those who weren't able to attend requested that this event be repeated every year as a social event that would allow the members to get to know each other while exploring their artistic sides, something many engineering majors don't get to tap into too often.

Hopefully, if we do repeat this event, it'll be as much fun as it was this time!

Flashback: Laser Tag with Orbitz!

Earlier in the year, some students in CSE Scholars got to go to a laser tag event with Orbitz! Attendees were able to get a chance to mingle with recruiters as well as play some super-fun laser tag!

Here are some pictures from the event:

Kick Starting the CSE Ballers!

Earlier this year, the CSE Scholars decided to venture into a field previously unknown and sign up for an intramural sports team!

We ended up choosing to play soccer, so several members of our group met up on Thursday evenings to play games in the intramural league. Our team faced other student organizations in the league, such as a group of students from the law school! We played with a lot of heart, and although we didn't win every game we participated in, we gained a sense of camaraderie. We even came up with a great team name: The CSE Ballers!

Overall, it was a wonderful bonding experience for all members involved.
Click the post to check out some photos from our games!

Above: Our team was visited by a member's dog! All the players enjoyed meeting and interacting with her.

Below: Once the other team arrived, we began the game.
Check us out -- we're in the yellow jerseys!
